Grants of up to $2,500 and grants of up to $10,000 to Michigan nonprofit organizations, high schools, Local College Access Networks, and IHEs for post-secondary preparation programs during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Funding is intended to directly support post-secondary readiness, access, and success activities that are aligned with the Foundation's mission, vision, and values. Grants are offered through two pathways: mini-grants for high schools and grants targeted towards community response.

Examples of proposals that fall within the grant parameters include and are not limited to: virtual Decision Day, summer-melt support, transition advising support, SAT prep support for rising Seniors, and providing WiFi hot-spots to support virtual college access activities.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Up to $2,500 in mini-grants targeted toward high schools, and up to $10,000 targeted toward a community response.

Term of Contract:

Grant applications should be submitted with an expected implementation of no more than 12 months from award date. No-cost extensions may be considered on a case-by-case basis upon request of a grantee.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

COVID-19 Response Grants provide a flexible funding pathway for Michigan high schools, Local College Access Networks, community-based nonprofit organizations, and higher education institutions to support emergent post-secondary projects and programs in their communities.

Pre-Application Information:

COVID-19 Response Grant applications can be submitted through July 31, 2020, 11:59 PM (EDT).

COVID-19 Response Grants will be available on a rolling basis until allocated funding is depleted. No grants will be awarded between September 1 and September 30. Grants received during that time will be considered for funding after October 1.

Final decisions regarding awards will be contingent upon the recommendations of the staff and available funds. MCAN is committed to expediting the grant review process and providing a response to applicants within 30 days or less.
