Grants and in-kind grants valued at $3,000 to US public and charter schools for programs to start a new school garden or expand an existing school garden. Funding is intended to teach students about environmental sustainability and biodiversity through the preservation of plant species. Applicants must be planning a new garden or expanding an existing school garden program designed to teach students about environmental sustainability and the importance of biodiversity.

The Budding Botanist grant will help young citizens learn about plants, explore their world, and inspire them to take care of the life they discover in their local ecosystems.

Each grant recipient will receive a package of tools and educational materials valued at $500 along with a check for $2,500 to spend on the materials needed to install a new or expand an existing school garden.

In addition to the award packages, grant recipients will become members of the KidsGardening Fellows Program receiving opportunities to promote their programs, network with other grant winners, and seek personalized guidance from KidsGardening education specialists.
