Grant Description
Grants to Michigan nonprofits to develop programs that promote amateur sports and fitness for youth in eligible regions. Priority is given to applicants who contribute to regional economic development by promoting the general welfare of the area and expanding employment opportunities. Primary consideration will be given to organizations in the Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Genesee, Isabella, Tuscola, Huron, Arenac, Ogemaw, Sanilac, and Iosco counties.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
The Michigan Baseball Foundation will consider funding Mid-Michigan non-profit organizations. Primary consideration will be given to organizations in the Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Genesee, Isabella, Tuscola, Huron, Arenac, Ogemaw, Sanilac, and Iosco counties.

Strong consideration is given to organizations that have:
- A practical financial development plan is either in place or underway
- A strong infrastructure and solid operational plan in place or under development
- Dynamic leadership both at the management level and on the governing board(s)
- Strategic alliances with other public and private agencies, businesses, and individuals
- A system for evaluating and developing their programs, management, and staff to keep the organization viable and effective

Ineligible
The grants are not intended to fund day-to-day operations or programs.

Some examples of items not supported by MBF grant awards include:
- Uniforms
- Programs or events
- Scholarships
- Travel expenses
- Perishable goods
- Seasonal or routine maintenance needs – ex. Diamond Dust, resurfacing of ball fields
- Projects more appropriately funded by taxpayers or tuition

Pre-Application Information
The deadline for submitting the completed application and supporting documentation is February 15, 2024. Grant recipients will be notified by the end of April 2024.

Term of Contract
Projects will be completed by the end of the calendar year the grant was received.
